The locking mechanisim was not working after a month. I contacted Nautilus, the parent company of bowlfex, and they sent me a new handle in less than a week. I’v yet to try it out though.

These selecttech 1090 dumbbells may break at higher weight settings. The dumbbells are not entirely made of metal. The discs holding the weight plates in place are quite fragile. I used the dumbbells at 75 lbs. each, and the discs holding the heaviest plates on both dumbbells are breaking (practically only the discs holding the heaviest plates are breaking). I did drop the dumbbells at a few inches (~3-5 in.) high though, at 75 lbs. each for benching. However, the manual claims that I may drop the dumbbells below a foot high (~12 in.).
The bench and stand by bowflex are great, however. However, I should have went with the dumbbells by ironmaster, which seems like I may drop them. Note that the bowflex dumbbells can switch weight settings quite faster than the much more durable dumbbells by ironmaster.
P.S. I work out in-door, and I dropped the dumbbells on regular/soft carpet.

These are the best dumbbells I have ever seen – and it isn’t even close. They are very easy to use and very well-made. I have a shoulder injury so I particularly like the fact that any shoulder exercise done with these can be done independent of the other hand/arm/shoulder. I highly recommend these weights.

Great piece to have in the gym. Easy to use sometimes gets stuck, alittle bulky but great to have.There’s not so much laying around the gym,A lot more room to work out.

I just got these dumbbells and started working out from home. I also own a Bowflex Ultimate 2, but needed this to alternate and change up my work outs. First Impression, it seems to be built solid and hope will serve my purpose for a long time. I just went with 1090 rather than 552 as it seems to be more future proof as far as bench press, shrugs and dead lift go. I read some people feeling the need to use a glove, I did not have the issue, not sure why. It is kind of long and so I agree with another reviewer about doing biceps curl at the same time. I have not used other dumbbells to compare, but this definitely looks and feels solid.
Amazon as usual is awesome to buy from and everything came perfectly and is cheaper than any other place I looked at including Bowflex.
